Dolly
We rescued Dudley and Dolly from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves as strays.
Dudley and Dolly were gaining weight and doing really well in their foster home, until Dudley suddenly became lethargic and was clearly not feeling well. His foster mom took him to the vet and they decided to keep him at the clinic since it wasn’t obvious right away what the issue was. After some tests, it was discovered that Dudley had a blood parasite (Haemobartonella). Unfortunately, despite the vet’s best efforts, Dudley didn’t make it through the night.
Dolly remained healthy, but after her brother passed away we put her through treatment for the same parasite to be on the safe side. She has remained healthy and she’s been given the all-clear by our vets and is now ready to find her forever home.
After having such a strong bond to her brother, and then losing him, Dolly went through a time of grieving. She has other cats in her foster home to keep her company, which has been helpful. So when she is adopted, we would prefer she go to a home where there is another cat or dog to be friends with.
Dolly is a sweet and friendly little girl and she loves to play with her foster family and the other pets in the home.
Dolly found her forever home with a lovely family and another cat to be friends with!
Update April 2016
Here’s a note from Dolly’s adopter. Her name is now Angela Davis!
“We adopted this sweet cat from Ladybird in December, and she captured our hearts immediately. It has taken a little bit longer to win the other cat over, but baby steps have paid off.
Angela Davis still has the tiniest little voice, but the biggest snuggle power. She loves her food, and at roughly 9 months of age, she now dwarfs our 13-year old cat, Chicken. Chicken has tried to resist Angela Davis’ attempts to play ALL THE TIME, so AD has adjusted her strategy, and has been holding back her strength and girth, trying more gentle ways too woo the cranky senior. They now play occasionally, and today the two cats had their first completely voluntary full sleeping snuggle (photo attached).
Thanks again for allowing us to bring this soft-as-a-bunny gentle cat into our home!
