Simba
Ladybird rescued Simba from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Simba is microchipped, but unfortunately the number came up invalid with the microchip company. Nobody came looking for Simba, so after his stray time at the shelter, we were happy to rescue him. As you can see, Simba had an issue with his eye. He didn’t seem bothered by it, but we took him straight to the vet to see what the problem might be. Dr. Renee Fleming of Guelph Animal Hospital examined Simba for us, and she thought that whatever was going on in Simba’s eye was extending into the anterior chamber, which can cause long term problems such as glaucoma or sarcoma. With a second opinion from a veterinary ophthalmologist, the consensus was removal of the eye to prevent further problems. Simba came through the surgery with flying colours. He was quite matted, so to relieve his discomfort, his coat was shaved down while he was under anesthetic. To be on the safe side, the eye was sent to a pathologist to determine if it was cancerous or not. Thankfully, it was benign! The technical term for his eye issue is iridociliary adenoma, and with the removal of the eye there is no metastatic risk. Yay! Thanks so much Dr. Fleming for looking after our Simba!
Simba spent a few days in his foster home wearing the cone of shame, but after his suture removal at a follow-up appointment, he is now cone free and ready to find his forever home!
We’ll have a personality report and updated photos from Simba’s foster home soon, but for now, we can tell you that Simba is one of the friendliest cats we’ve ever met! He head bonks everyone and everything and never stops purring.
Simba found his forever home with lovely people!
