Hazel
We rescued Hazel from a high-volume shelter in the Montreal area. Big thank you to the Critter Cabs Animal Rescue Transport volunteer drivers for getting the bunnies to Hamilton so they could start their new life!
Here’s a report from Hazel’s foster mom:
“Hazel is a really sweet and playful bunny. She gets along with anyone she meets, including our cats and dogs! She’s made friend with our chihuahua, who she loves to snuggle and play with. Hazel is an active and curious bunny with lots of energy and a sweet disposition. She’s a bit skittish when picking her up, but she doesn’t mind it, especially once you have her in your lap. She enjoys being pet, likes to have lots of floor time to explore her surroundings, and loves fresh veggies. She’s a bit messy with the litter box, so daily cleaning is definitely necessary, but it’s not problem since Hazel loves to be out of her pen exploring! Hazel is very curious, so be sure to rabbit proof wires and objects that you want to protect her from. We’re so happy to have shared our space with this sweet girl. She deserves a loving and playful home where she will be included in daily family life. Very safe rabbit for children, and gets along with other pets.”
Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Pet store bought rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.

Hazel found her forever home with a lovely person who came all the way from Buffalo to adopt her! Yay!
Update June 2016
Adoption update!
Our sweet bunny Hazel went to a forever home back in April, and she was introduced to her new bunny sibling Roosevelt.
After a few tries, the introductions were finally successful, and look at them now! We love, love, love when our adopted animals form a bond with the adopter’s animals so sweetly.
Here’s a note from Hazel’s adopter:
“Hello from Hazel, aka Eleanor!!
She and Roosevelt appear to be completely bonded now and I’m just the 3rd wheel that provides them with food.. He follows her everywhere she goes and it appears that even though she is half his size, SHE is the dominant one… Here are some pics of the adorable couple. Thank you again for everything!!

Congrats on your awesome forever home Hazel! And your new big brother!
UPDATE August 17/16
We received this lovely update from Eleanor’s adopter today.
Happy bunny birthday Eleanor!
“Hello from NY! Since Eleanor (Hazel) was about 8 months old when I adopted her, I chose today’s date to celebrate her first birthday!!
She didn’t get any cake, but we did have our own little princess birthday party! She and Roosevelt are still madly in love and he truly is her prince.
She’s still sassy but she’s leaving to enjoy some cuddles with me, as long as Roosevelt doesn’t get too jealous!
Thanks again for allowing me to become her mommy!
Diane”
