Fanta
Fanta ended up at Hamilton Animal Control by no fault of his own. His owners only had him for two weeks before they surrendered him to HAC. He was being bullied by another cat in the home and couldn’t get to the litter box without being attacked. He stopped using the litter for this reason, so his owners brought him to HAC instead of trying to work on the issue between the cats and offering them a second box.
Fanta used the litter perfectly while at the shelter. He did have an eye condition called entropian, but HAC had the surgery done to repair it and it looks much better now. We rescued Fanta from HAC and took him to our vet for a check up. We got him some much needed dental work and he came through the surgery with flying colours.
Fanta is a happy, happy boy! He’s constantly head bonking and rubbing on everything. He’ll certainly make a lovely companion for someone! Because of his surgery, his one eye will permanently be slightly closed. How can you not love a winking kitty?! So cute!
Here’s a note from Fanta’s foster home:
“When we first brought Fanta home from the vet, he was a little bit shy. Once he came out of his shell, however, he turned out to be one awesome cat. He has blossomed into a funny, playful guy with a lovely personality. He’s a gentle giant….very sweet and affectionate….a love-bug extraordinaire! He loves to curl up on our laps for some head scratches while we watch TV, and he just can’t get close enough. Lap space is a hot commodity in our household, but he will climb over any cat in his way and sit either directly on them or so close that they are uncomfortable so they move. He is smart like that. 🙂 Although he was a little intimidated by our other cats at first, he has now found his place in the herd and gets along well with all of them. He is a very playful boy who loves his toys….he is always rolling around on the ground with the catnip mice or chasing one of our other cats. He has a ton of energy and sure moves quickly for such a big guy. He tries to engage our other cats to play with him, but unfortunately, our cats are fairly lazy and they ignore him for the most part. I think Fanta would love a feline playmate, as long as the other cat was chill and not aggressive. He would also be great with other kids, or even as an only cat, as long as you were prepared to provide him with the proper amount of attention and affection. He’s fairly adaptable with a very sweet temperament and would be a great addition to any family.”
Fanta was adopted by wonderful people!
October 2016 Update from Fanta’s adopters:
“I wanted to send you an update on Fanta, who we have renamed Larry. It’s after the cat from the show Modern Family. He is doing great! The first few days all he did was hide but it didn’t take too long for him to feel comfortable exploring the house during the day. He is so cuddly and affectionate with us! He gets along well with our other cat, Stormy. Larry is also obsessed with toys! We have this cardinal toy that chips when it moves and he loves it so much. We had to get a quieter toy because he wanted to play with it all the time! Now he has a new toy he loves, and has torn apart quiet a bit, I’ve never seen a cat play so rough with toys! He likes to pull at them with his teeth. He’s a bit of a bed hog, he doesn’t like to share with Stormy and will bat at him when they are both on the bed. He is a great cat and we are so happy to him!
