Winnie
* Winnie and Bonnie found their forever home with lovely people! *
Winnie and Bonnie the Chinchillas ended up at a high-volume shelter in Quebec when their owners surrendered them. Thanks to Critter Cabs volunteer drivers, Winnie and Bonnie were delivered to us in Hamilton after a long drive. (interested in becoming a volunteer driver? Contact Critter Cabs or Freedom Drivers)
Winnie and Bonnie are lovely little ladies. Here’s a report from their foster home:
“This mother-daughter pair are ready to find their forever home! They will need patience and lots of love. It seems as if they were neglected previously as they’re still getting used to attention and human touch. When they’re out for play time, they’ve become experts at speeding away to hiding under furniture, making themselves very difficult to catch when they have to go back to their cage. They love their play time, so we can’t blame them!
Your heart will melt when you see them curled up and cuddling together as they sleep. Winnie and Bonnie love to be petted once they feel safe and comfortable. They are truly adorable. They enjoy a variety of treats, as well as their pellets and timothy hay.”
A large cage is a requirement for chinchillas. Critter Nation cages are recommended, and there are many great ideas for DIY chinchilla cages on this website.
Chinchillas need a large wheel for running. The Flying Saucer is one of the best available.
Plastic exercise balls are not safe for chinchillas.
