Lolly
Lolly ended up at Hamilton Animal Control after she was left on a city bus in a carrier. We have no idea why someone would choose to abandon her in this way, but we were happy to rescue her from HAC when a foster home opened up.
Lolly is a very sweet cat, and we had great hopes for her to find a forever home after being abandoned in such an awful way. But…Lolly is plagued with health troubles. She has kidney disease, arthritis, badly healed bones from previous injuries, and she has litter box issues. Since her rescue, Lolly has had countless vet visits, tests and treatments to help her feel better. Her foster family have been amazing in taking care of her through all the ups and downs of her health troubles. After much discussion with her foster family and our vets, it was decided that Lolly was not a great candidate for adoption and that the best thing for Lolly would be to make her a Ladybird permanent resident. This means that Lolly will stay in her foster home, under Ladybird’s care for the remainder of her days.
Here’s a note from Lolly’s foster family:
“Lolly is a wonderful kitty, full of purrs and love. She LOVES her wet food, and anything you are willing to share of your own. If she could eat 24-7 she would!
Because of Lolly’s medical issues, such as the spine compression, this makes it difficult for her to jump. She is able to jump on things that are about the height of a couch, which she loves to curl up beside you on. We have provided her with portable steps so she can climb up on things higher such as the bed.
Lolly enjoys gentle affection, and will play on occasion, chasing your hand underneath the blanket.
As far as medications, she’s on quite a few! Thankfully, medications can be mixed in her food, which she gobbles up with no problem, as she loves her food.
We have really come to adore this little lady.”
We’re so thankful that Lolly has a safe and wonderful place to land after everything she has been through.

We’ve lost our sweet Lolly. Here’s a note written by her foster mom, Jill.
“After being left in a carrier on the bus, ten months ago Lolly came to us as a foster, to await her forever home. But once her health challenges became apparent, she stayed with us as a permanent resident of Ladybird. She started off a bit skittish, hiding under the bed in her room, and tolerating just a few pats. Once her meds kicked in and made her more comfortable, she came out of her shell and ate up the attention. It didn’t take long for her to make herself comfortable amongst her much bigger brothers, head butting them out of the way to take their meals. After a few months, she was letting us pick her up and rock her like a baby on our shoulder. Every night she would climb up her kitty stairs onto our bed and plop down in her “graceful” style and curl up next to Brianne’s hip, where she would spend much of the night. We were sad to learn her kidney disease had worsened to stage three, and devastated to learn she had developed carcinoma in her mouth. We were fortunate to have Lolly live out the rest of her days in our kitty retirement villa, providing her with lots of love and affection, time spent lounging on the back deck watching birds, and her favourite, eating as much as her little heart desired. This morning she was freed from her pain from her cancer, kidney disease, and spondylosis. We will miss her terribly, but we know it was time to let her go. Sleep peacefully our little Lolly. ❤️”
Thank you Jill and Brianne for taking such great care of Lolly for her time with you. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for Lolly to live out her remaining time on this earth.
Rest well Lolly! You’ll forever be in our hearts.
