Chuck
* Chuck found his forever home with lovely people! *
Chuck came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. He’s already neutered, so whoever he belonged to didn’t come looking for him at HAC, even though he had been there for more than two weeks.
Chuck had a vet visit on his rescue day, and the vet said he was pretty healthy, other than a little bit of sparse fur and the scratches on his nose. Nothing some quality food and healing time won’t fix! Chuck tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Yay!
He made himself comfortable right away at his foster home, and he was purring and head bonking as soon as he got out of the carrier. After a couple of weeks of settling in, Chuck is now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a report from his foster mom:
“If you’re looking for a friendly, low-key, and low-maintenance cat, Chuck is definitely your guy! Chuck is a laid-back dude who gets along with everyone he meets and is good company for both his feline and human friends. He’s playful and fun, yet very chill. You could say he’s a little bit country and a little bit rock n’ roll. He is the perfect sidekick as he is curious kitty who likes attention and affection, but he will also give you space and is not always up in your grill. There are times when he wants to be wherever you are; when he will follow you around the house, running behind you or under your feet, wanting to know what you’re up to and letting you know he’s there with an unobtrusive meow. There are also times when he likes his solitude; when you will see him sleeping on the couch or in the sun, or sitting in a window, watching the world go by and contemplating the meaning of life. Chuck is a cool cat who loves to chill by the screen door to feel the breeze on his face and listen to the birds in nearby trees. He’s also down for keeping you company, and will sit with you while you watch TV or read, although he’s not really a lap cat. He may put his paws or head on your lap, but rarely his whole body, which you won’t really mind since he’s a pretty big guy. He will mostly just sit near you or beside you, purring and waiting for head scratches. He’s not a fan of being picked up and won’t stay in your arms for very long, but he does love belly rubs, pets on the head, and chin scratches when he’s safely on the ground.
Chuck is a nice guy who gets along with our other cats, which I admit is a difficult task as they can sometimes be jerks to the new kid on the block. We introduced Chuck to our posse very slowly by way of smells through the foster room door and brief, supervised visits, but quickly realized that he would not be a problem as there were no growls, hisses, or aggressive behavior…at least on his part. A few of our cats do not love Chuck, and there are growls, hisses, and snorts from them as he saunters by. Chuck, however, keeps his cool most of the time and doesn’t seem too fussed by their less-than-welcoming behavior. It’s not Chuck’s fault or anything that he did, it’s just that some of our cats don’t really like interlopers and have a tendency to pick on the new guy. Poor Chuck just wants to be friends with them and to share some space in the sun, but unfortunately, they’re just not having it. Chuck doesn’t go looking for trouble, but he is also not a scaredy-cat and will stand up for himself when he needs to. Overall, Chuck is an awesome and sweet guy who would love to be your best buddy if given the chance. Can you find room in your heart for Chuck?”

Update from Chuck’s adopter that was sent to Chuck’s foster mom Amy:
“Hi Amy. Just wanted to say hi and give you a wee update on Chuck. He’s been a real joy to our family. I think he likes my son more than me but fickle is a cat’s second name!! LOL.
He has become a bit of a lap cat-never far from anyone and always wanting to be petted. We love him immensely.
Thanks for everything you do for the cats and getting me my four legged friend. Take care.”
