Conan
* Conan found his forever home with lovely people! *
Conan (O’Kitten) came into Hamilton Animal Control all by himself as a stray. Poor little guy was so scared and alone!
During his first few days at the shelter, Conan had the runs pretty severely. Who knows what this wee waif was eating while he was out on the streets that upset his tummy so badly. HAC staff dewormed Conan and ran a fecal test, but no parasites were found. As the days went on, Conan’s poops were more formed and he seemed to be feeling better.
We rescued Conan from HAC and took him to the vet for a check-up. The vet thought Conan looked good, other than the itchy ear mites he was suffering from! Clinic staff gave Conan’s ears a good cleaning and sent him on his way with some ear drops for continued treatment.
Conan settled in well at his foster home, and he became fast friends with the other cats there. He’s a playful, silly and happy kitten.
After some expert medication giving and ear cleaning by his foster mom, Conan is now ear mite free and ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a report from Conan’s foster mom:
“How cute is this little face? Seriously. It’s really flippin’ cute and very smooshable. And when he sits at your feet, letting out that tiny, high-pitched squeak….and you pick him up, and the engine starts going (he’s a real purring machine)…and he stretches out in your arms, and puts his paws gently on your cheek….and looks up at you with those wide eyes…it’s all you can do not to melt into a puddle. Life with Conan is calm and peaceful during those moments.
As for the rest of the time with Conan, it’s a bit of a roller coaster ride, as he is a high-energy kitten. Prepare to be wildly entertained, bewildered, impressed, captivated, delighted, frustrated, and exhausted. He is rambunctious, playful, curious, happy, mischievous, and daring. He loves to play with his toys (toys on a string are his favourite, and the laser light can be hours of fun), and he also likes to play with our older cats…or attempt to, anyway…much to their disdain. Only one of our cats will give him the time of day, and consequently, Conan spends a lot of his time jumping out at her from around the corner, or pouncing on her back in a sneak attack. For this reason, we strongly recommend that Conan have a buddy to play with in his forever home. He should be adopted with another kitten, or by someone who already has a kitten/cat with a high energy level to keep him entertained. Although kittens are extremely cute and can be very entertaining and rewarding as pets, they can also be high maintenance and get into shenanigans if they are bored or left alone for too long, and Conan is no different. He sometimes likes to climb the side of the couch or the screen door, scratch at the carpet (despite the multitude of scratching posts nearby), and chew on cords or other plastic objects (other than his toys). At night he can be a little party animal, and may keep you awake with a combination of gymnastics and kitty karate (I’m pretty sure he has a black belt).
Being a typical kitten, though, means that Conan is also sweet, affectionate, cuddly, and needy. Sometimes when he’s in chill mode, or tuckered out from his kitty olympics, you can pick him up and he will sleep in your arms. Or, he will curl up beside you or on your lap, and will submit to copious belly rubs and chin scratches. (But sometimes when he’s feisty and you try this, he will swat furiously at your hands and attack your fingers as he thinks it’s playtime. You just have to be patient and pick your moments.)
Overall, Conan is a very cute, sweet, adventurous and funny little guy who will steal your heart if you let him.”
As noted by his foster mom, we are asking that Conan be adopted to a home where there are other cats for him to be friends with. A single kitten is a lonely kitten!
Please adopt Conan!
