Eloise
* Eloise has been adopted by her foster home! Yay! *
Back in May, Eloise came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. About a month into her stay at HAC, Eloise had to be rushed to the vet as she was suffering from what was thought to be pyometra (an infection of the uterus), but it turned out, Eloise was pregnant and was having trouble giving birth. While at the vet, clinic staff helped her deliver one kitten who had gotten stuck feet first in the birth canal. Unfortunately, the kitten was underdeveloped, and didn’t survive. This was the only kitten Eloise was pregnant with.
Eloise was put on pain medication and antibiotics, and after staying overnight at the vet, she was sent back to the shelter. She recovered well, but after a few more weeks in a cage, she became depressed. She was moved to a larger cage to give her more space to move around, but she still seemed sad. She had been through so much, and had been waiting for so long to get out of the shelter, nobody could blame her for being unhappy.
She was sent to the Ontario Veterinary College to be spayed through their student program, and when she returned, we had a foster home lined up for her! We were so happy to get this sweet girl out of the shelter after such a long stay.
Eloise settled in at her foster home, and now she’s ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a personality report from her foster family:
“Eloise is a very sweet, wonderful black cat. She may look grumpy, but she’s rarely so; she is full of personality and love to chirrup, squeak and chat at you through the day. She’s no lap cat, but when she picks her human she rarely leaves their side. She prefers men over women, even if she hardly knows the man, but she still loves almost everyone. She’s very relaxed and loves to look out windows or perch on a cat tree and watch the action. She likes to play, and has plenty of energy for it once you have her going. She particularly likes toys that you can hide treats in and she then has to get them out. We haven’t tried her with cats, but Eloise does not like dogs. She is territorial of her space and people; she does not like sharing her favourite things. But she will reluctantly, if needed, so with a slow and safe introduction she could probably do well with other animals. She’s happiest when she can spend most of her day lounging with you. She is a lifelong friend and companion ready to meet her match.”
Please adopt Eloise!
