Scarlett
Scarlett and Mindy were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control when their owner was no longer able to care for them.
Scarlett was sweet as pie. She was always rubbing, non-stop purring and looking for attention.
When we rescued her, Scarlett was already showing some of the signs of being a senior, declawed cat. She had muscle loss in her back end, but could still get around fine.
Scarlett’s blood work showed the beginnings of kidney and thyroid disease. Our vets started her on medication and special food, and she did very well on both.
After a year in foster care, Scarlett’s age and health issues caught up with her. Her health took a turn for the worst, and she quickly went downhill. After exhausting all treatment options, our vets advised that Scarlett was not going to get better, and the best thing for her would be to let her go. Scarlett’s foster mom brought her to the vet one last time, and she held Scarlett close while saying goodbye.
We are heartbroken for Scarlett’s foster mom, and for Scarlett’s “sister” Mindy.
We’d like to thank Scarlett’s foster mom for giving her such great care, and we’d like to thank Dr. Camilleri at Village Cat Clinic for looking after Scarlett for her time with us.
Rest in peace Scarlett. We’ll never forget your sweet face.
