Giuseppe
** Giuseppe found his forever home with lovely people! **
Giuseppe was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by a family member when his owner was admitted to hospital. Giuseppe is such a sweet cat! So lovely and affectionate.
Giuseppe has a hematoma in one of his ears. During his stay with them, HAC staff sent Giuseppe to the vet to have the hematoma drained three times. Each time, the ear filled back up again soon after. This type of hematoma can be very uncomfortable, but throughout all this, sweet Giuseppe continued to be in good spirits, despite how he must have been feeling.
We rescued Giuseppe and took him to the vet. The ear was drained there again, and he was started on medication. A few weeks later, Giuseppe had dental cleaning and one rotten tooth removed. Our vets were considering doing surgery on the ear at that time, but it had scarred down enough that surgery wasn’t required. Giuseppe is doing wonderfully now and he’s ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from Giuseppe’s foster mom:
“Giuseppe is a big beautiful boy just looking for someone to love and to love him! His photos don’t do him justice, he has such a beautiful rich brown coat! He loves people and attention. As soon as I walk in the room he starts rubbing up against every piece of furniture in sight and rolls onto his back for a belly rub! He loves cheek scratches and will give you very enthusiastic head bonks to let you know he loves you too. Sometimes when he gets very excited he will give a little love bite; he loves pets so much he just gets carried away! He would love to sleep in your bed with you if you’ll allow it and likes to sleep cuddled up right beside you. He also loves cupboards! If he can find a cupboard that he can get into he will make himself a little bed in there and snooze the afternoon away!
Giuseppe was a little nervous when he first arrived to our home and hid under the bed while we were out, but it only took a few days for him to start feeling comfortable! He likes other cats and will try to rub up on them. My cat, Baxter, has acted quite territorial with him but Giuseppe has never hissed or growled back. That’s not to say Giuseppe won’t stand up for himself! He has been known to chase Baxter out of a room when he’s being particularly rude. We pet sat a friendly adult cat for a week during Giuseppe’s time here and they became fast friends so I am 100% sure my own cat was the cause of their tumultuous relationship and Giuseppe was not to blame. Although we have discovered that Giuseppe does not like tiny kittens! Humans are Giuseppe’s first love so he would be fine as an only pet, but he would also be fine living with a friendly adult cat.
I don’t believe Giuseppe has ever lived with a dog before as he was very spooked the first time he saw mine. Things have improved and he now co-exists with them as long as they give him space. He will walk by them and lounge on a couch in the same room as them, but if one tries to sniff him he will let out a big hiss and run in the other direction! He would do just fine with a dog that understands kitty boundaries.
Giuseppe’s swollen ear has now drained of all fluid and is doing well! His vet considered doing surgery on it to help repair it, but it has been determined that the ear is so scarred that surgery is not possible. This means that while it does not bother him, it will not go back to normal. He will always have a unique cauliflower ear and we think it adds character!
Giuseppe is a wonderful boy that deserves a loving home with a family who are looking for a fun loving, extremely friendly, calm older kitty!”
Please adopt Giuseppe!
