Mickey
* Mickey found his forever home with lovely people! Yay! *
Mickey came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. One of Mickey’s eyes is cloudy and the other is protruding. He is likely blind, or only has a very limited vision. Mickey’s nails were quite overgrown and his ears needed a good cleaning. He was in pretty rough shape. HAC staff sent Mickey to the vet, and the vet sent him back to the shelter with some eye medication.
Mickey was not happy being in a cage in a noisy shelter. All he wanted was to be with people. The shelter was stressing him out. Poor guy…
Mickey’s owner called HAC and said they would be coming in to claim him, but they never showed up. HAC held Mickey for an extended period to give his owners a chance to come in, but they still didn’t show up, despite many attempts to contact them.
We were more than happy to get Mickey out of HAC and get him straight to the vet to get him the medical attention he so desperately needed. He’s being treated at Lynden Animal Clinic and is being fostered by Dr. Babcock and his wife Robin. Mickey is in the best hands now!
After spending a short time settling in at his foster home, Mickey had surgery to remove the bulging eye, he was neutered, and he had a good teeth cleaning. He came through the surgery like a champ! Mickey has healed from his surgery, and is now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from Mickey’s foster home:
“Meet Mickey! Aka Mr. Independent or Mr. Snuggle Bug! He has been neutered, one eye removed, had a dental cleaning and is up to date with his vaccines. Although Mickey is blind, it does not stop him. When it is not too chilly out, he loves to be outside investigating. It is amazing how he negotiates his way around. I was picking him up to help him, but he seems to prefer figuring it out on his own. He is potty trained but will use a pee pad when not taken out. He has many foster fur siblings and gets along well with everyone. At night he loves to sleep in the bed, under all the blankets usually against my legs. He can go up the stairs well (I usually follow him but sometimes he sneaks up when i am not looking) but I don’t let him go down the stairs on his own. He lets you know when it is suppertime, loves his food and has not shown any food aggression. He is a gem and will make a wonderful addition to some lucky family!”
Please adopt Mickey!
