Daisy
* Daisy found her forever home with a lovely person! *
Daisy was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owner when her owner became too ill to care for her. Daisy’s owner was heartbroken to have to leave her at the shelter, but efforts to place Daisy with family or friends were unsuccessful, and her owner was not physically able to look after Daisy any longer.
Daisy was not happy about being in the shelter. She’d been with her owner since she was six months old, so she was understandably confused and stressed. A Ladybird foster home opened up fairly quickly and we were thrilled to be able to get Daisy out of the shelter.
After a few initial stressful days, Daisy finally settled in at her foster home. She gets along very well with the other dogs and cats there, and she’s very friendly with all the humans she meets. We got her the surgery she needed to remove a growth over one eye, and she had a dental cleaning. Blood results showed early stage kidney disease, but with medication and a special diet, Daisy is doing just fine. She’s now ready to find her forever home!
We’ll let Daisy tell you her story from here…
“Not anyone can adopt me. I am a very special, sweet dog. I will love someone who will love and stay with me.
You know that from my bio, that I have had a rather difficult time these last few months. When Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued me, one of my first outings was to see a veterinarian. My eye leaked was because I had a tumour in the eyelid. This has been repaired. My breath was stinky and my teeth were cleaned. My blood was checked and I am in the early and treatable stage of kidney failure. I have started a special diet, medication and vitamins and am feeling a lot better. I have some hearing impairment, but I watch faces and signal with my clear and soulful eyes.
Now that the sad part of my story has been told…
Let me tell you about me:
I am a sweet and loving friend. I am devoted and will stay with you through thick and thin. The cats in my foster home love me and the other dogs and I get along very well. I am gentle and patient and have never tried to steal their food.
I would be very happy in a forever home home with a friend who needs a friend to be with him or her throughout the day. I can walk and walk for hours. I love to jump around and sniff trees and be with you. I love being outside!
My foster family and I have become very fond of each other. My foster mom, who has had a fair bit of experience with dogs over the years, has told me that I am a really good dog.”
A note from Daisy’s foster parents:
“She is a sweet and gentle girl who is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever fostered. She deserves a forever home with people who can be with her through the day and want to enjoy walks and friendship.”
Please adopt Daisy!
