* Greta found her forever home with wonderful people! *

Greta came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She was very scared and stressed by everything happening to her, and HAC staff thought her to be semi-feral. One HAC staff member named Kim, could see Greta’s potential though, and worked with her every day to get her to come out of her shell. Two months of gentle handling and gaining Greta’s trust did wonders! Greta became a sweet and snuggly girl, whose purr never shut off. We’re thankful for Kim’s commitment and dedication to Greta. It literally saved her life.

Before she left HAC, Greta was spayed through the Ontario Veterinary College student program, and she did really well for her surgery. On her rescue day, we took Greta to the vet for a check up. This sweet girl purred and rolled around on the table while the vet examined her. She’s such a ham!
We then delivered Greta to her foster home, where she proceeded to hide in the basement for many days. Her foster mom only knew Greta was doing okay because she was eating, and playing with toys on the main floor of the house during the night. Despite her best efforts, foster mom was not able to coax Greta out of her many hiding spots, and we got a bit worried because Greta needed to get to the vet to have her spay stitches removed.
We got in touch with Kim, to see if a familiar face would help Greta come out of hiding. It worked! Kim called her name and within minutes, Greta was in her arms. Kim and foster mom were able to get Greta into a carrier and off to the vet. Everything went great at the appointment, and when Greta was back in her foster home, she was much more social.

Kim very much wanted to adopt Greta, but her husband kept saying no. Little did Kim know that her husband, Ray, had been secretly planning with us to surprise her with the birthday gift she wanted most – Greta! Now the two are together again, permanently. Best adoption story ever! These two have an undeniable connection, and we couldn’t think of a better forever home for Greta. Tears were shed when Ray brought Kim to Greta’s foster home on her birthday night. It was a beautiful and heart-warming moment.
