Meadow
June 29th, 2018
So terribly sad to wake up to the news that Meadow passed away during the night. Despite the vet care and medication, her little body just couldn’t handle all that was happening to it.
Thank you to everyone who sent their well wishes and donations. Any items donated will go to the other rabbits in our care, and to future rescued bunnies.
Little Meadow, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Sleep well little one.

How a tiny baby bunny with a missing foot ends up on the streets of Hamilton, we’ll never know. But, that’s where little Meadow found herself earlier this week before she was brought to Hamilton Animal Services.
Meadow’s left front foot is a bit of a mangled mess. It seems she suffered an injury to the foot that wasn’t treated, and what’s left of the foot has become necrotic. To top it off, Meadow is also suffering from an upper respiratory virus, ear mites and a slight head tilt that may be caused by the mites. Poor little thing!
We took Meadow to see Dr. Davis at the Lincoln County Humane Society Animal Clinic, and she recommended that what is left of Meadow’s foot be amputated. The surgery will have to wait until she’s over the respiratory virus and feeling a bit better. For now, Meadow is on medication for both the virus and pain.
Rabbits are very sensitive to illness, and the fact that Meadow is so young and not in the best health is a cause for concern. But we’re going to keep our fingers and toes crossed that she can get through the next couple of weeks and get herself healthy. She’s already hopping around her enclosure at her foster home without too much trouble, so we’re hopeful!
Welcome Meadow! We’re gonna do our best to get you better!
Want to help Meadow and the other rabbits in our care? Our rabbits need donations of Oxbow rabbit pellets, timothy hay, newspaper based litter (like Yesterday’s News brand), small animal chew toys, and soft blankets.
