Maggie
* Jasper and Maggie found their forever home with lovely people! *
Jasper and Maggie ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when their owner passed away.
We took them to the avian specialist vet at Burloak Animal Hospital where they got a thorough check up. Jasper is in good health, other than a bit of stress to his tail feathers. Maggie has some congenital abnormalities to her beak, and some issues with her feathers, but the vet thought she was healthy otherwise. Neither of the birds need any special medication or care. Just some good quality food and a stress free environment!
These two sweeties are doing great in their foster home, and now they’re ready to find their forever home!
Here’s a note from their foster mom:
“Maggie:
Timid and shy but a curious observer. Maggie enjoys being close to Jasper especially when receiving his affection and kisses and she returns the favor. Maggie enjoys fresh water, and baths. She isn’t as social or as vocal as Jasper, but as she warms up to you she does talk to you a bit, and will join Jasper in with some chirping. Maggie enjoys hanging Millet.
Jasper:
Jasper is very social and enjoys singing beautiful tunes for anyone in listening distance. If you want to play music for him and even sing for him to join in with chirps he loves that. Jasper and Maggie enjoy a variety of music but anything with a good melody or tune. Jasper shows much affection and appreciation for Maggie on a daily basis. He always goes for the food first, and his favourite food is seeds. Jasper enjoys flying and would probably do even better in a larger cage with Maggie. Jasper enjoys watching you play with the toys in the cage, and with enough socialization and comfort is likely to join in. I am sure Maggie would follow by example of Jasper. Maybe introducing some mirrors may interest them. Jasper enjoys listening to the birds outside in the morning with the window cracked.
Once Jasper & Maggie warm up to their forever owner in their forever home, i feel that introduction to new foods, toys, and atmosphere will be easier for them as they feel more comfortable with someone in a long-term setting. I have tried introducing pellets and even fresh fruit into their diet, but i feel as if they may not be comfortable eating it yet as they are still adjusting and need more time, and introduction to these foods in a new setting. Jasper is definitely likely to enjoy socializing with his future forever owner, where as Maggie may be timid and take a little longer to warm up to someone. They like when bedtime is around 10/10:30 pm, and morning is around 7am. They never wake me up or keep me up and are great at sleeping in their designated sleep time. They like to take naps sometimes during the day.”
