Mia
Mia showed up to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray.
When we rescued her from HAS, she was underweight, she had a terrible odour, bald spots, and she was covered in a rash. At her initial vet visit, she was switched to a special food, given flea and tick treatment, and the vet noted a murmur in her heart. An ultrasound found a mitral valve issue, but she was compensating well and her lungs were clear. She was well enough for dental work, so she had a good cleaning and two teeth were removed. Her foster home noticed that she continued to be a bit on the stinky side and her fur was still a little on the oily side. The vet suspected allergies, so Mia was put on a trial hypoallergenic food, and a special shampoo for bathing to see if it helped.
Despite all of this, Mia is the sweetest little dog. She is friendly, fun and so loving. She loves walks (except in the rain), playing with toys, playing with her foster sister dogs (one of which is Ladybird adoption alumni Matilda) and cats, playing tug of war with toys, chasing toys, playing fetch , cuddling, being pet, treats and being with people. She is a friendly lovely little friend.
Though all these issues were not yet completely resolved (she will likely always be a greasy-fur girl) Mia’s foster home fell more and more in love with her the longer she stayed, so they decided she should stay forever! She’ll continue to have exemplary vet care with her forever home, and they’ll take the best of care of Mia for the rest of her days.
Congrats on your forever home Mia! We’re so happy for you!
