Solo
* Luke and Solo were adopted by the most wonderful people! Yay! *
Luke and Solo were found as strays and brought into Hamilton Animal Services.
They’re shy boys, but they don’t mind being petted and being picked up if you go slowly.
Since their rescue, they’ve received all their vaccines and they’ve been neutered. They’re now ready to find their forever home!
Luke and Solo’s foster mom is doing a fantastic job of getting Luke and Solo used to being handled. They’ve already come a long way from being the hissy scared kittens we picked up from the shelter!
Here’s a note from their foster mom:
“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, 2 skittish kittens named Luke and Solo were rescued…
These bros are too cute for their own good! When they came to their foster home they were extremely scared and wouldn’t come out at all – they would find the tiniest, cramped spots that you would think would be impossible for anything to squeeze into, and yet they would both stuff themselves in there together. They’ve made a lot of progress since then! They’re pretty tentative sometimes and will back off a bit when I come into the room, but they’re no longer diving under the bed and not coming out; I’m starting to suspect it’s mostly my creaky old door that startles them, because they’ll pop right back out now. No more hiding when I’m hanging around with them – they’ll come out and door their thing, strutting around or wrestling with each other or just loafing around. They have some pretty epic battles between themselves – their play fighting gets really enthusiastic, with each of them being the instigator sometimes but more so Luke. He’s definitely the more mischievous one of the pair, he likes to go after Solo’s tail and pounce at him from around the corner, but Solo holds his own.
It’s slow and steady with these boys. There is still some hissing every now and then, but they do warm up to you. At the start they would hide under tables and watch me from afar, but now they come out and do their thing, more comfortable with me being around; they’ve been inching closer and closer over time too, so it will be a matter of being patient and having these two get used to you.
Luke (the orange tabby) is definitely the braver and more easy-going little dude. He’s the first to come out and greet you, the first to accept scritches, and it’s pretty easy to get his little motor running with purrs. Solo (the brown tabby) is a harder nut to crack, but I can see the cogs in his little head turning as he watches his brother get scritches and enjoy them. He’s the more cautious of the pair, he tends to hang back and observe things before hopping into action. He does make the cutest little trills when he’s exploring though; it’s fun to watch as he tries to think through things carefully (like the best way to jump up onto a bookshelf), whereas Luke is more gung-ho about things.
Solo seems to enjoy a spot by the window where he can watch the world go by – he’s definitely a cautious observer. Luke likes to jump up onto a tall dresser, the highest point in the room, and watch everything go on beneath him – including his brother. They both like batting around little stuffed animals, and classic string is a big hit with them. Their favourite is definitely the laser pointer though – they really like to go after that red dot.
These two are adorable little bros. They need somebody with patience to help them come out of their shells a bit more; a household with kids probably isn’t the right fit, they’ll need somebody quiet and calm that is willing to wait while these two warm up to them. But I think with time they will come around, they just need to land in their forever home and get used to things!”
Please adopt Luke and Solo!
