Bo
* Bo and Blueberry found their forever home with the awesome folks at The Pipsqueakery! Yay! *
Bo, Blueberry and Butter Bean were born to mama Belinda on September 24th, 2018.
Blueberry and Butter Bean are perfect little pigs, but Bo is suffering from a condition called Fatal White Syndrome. He is blind, deaf, and does not have the usual number of teeth that other guinea pigs have. These, as well as possible gastro/intestinal issues are all symptoms of Fatal White Syndrome. Bo saw a small animal specialized vet early on who confirmed this diagnoses. A lot of Fatal White guinea pigs pass away shortly after weening, as they aren’t able to eat properly and/or sustain nutrition because of their teeth deformities. Thankfully, Bo has one front tooth and he has a full set of molars, which allow him to eat (somewhat) normally. Some Lethal White pigs’ teeth will grow in at strange angles as they age, so frequent vet visits will be required for teeth trimming. At his last vet visit in January 2019, the vet gave him a clean bill of health and noted that his molars are normal, but his front tooth is pointing slightly outward. It’s not causing him any issue at this time.
Bo has done quite well with eating his pellets and an Alfalfa/Timothy hay mix. It just takes him a little longer to do so. Bo and Blueberry enjoy a daily treat of veggies and/or fruit. Their foster home takes the extra step to chop up the fruit and veggies into small bits for Bo, just to make it easier for him to eat.
These two are lovely. They do lots of zooming and “popcorning” around their cage when they’re happy. Bo likes to be held and have his fur stroked. Blueberry takes a little longer to warm up, but he enjoys hanging out in your lap and being petted when he’s comfortable.
Bo will be a bit of a challenge for his adopter if any issues arise in the future, but he is totally worth it. He’s such a lovely little pig, and so cute to watch when he happily runs around his cage and talks to everyone. He is a special little dude and we’re very much in love with him!
