Mayonnaise
* Mayonnaise found his forever home with his foster home! Yay! *
Mayonnaise was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services because of allergies in his owner’s family. Shortly after his arrival, HAS staff noticed that Mayonnaise was hording his food, but not really eating it. His fur was disheveled, and he seemed to be losing weight. HAS staff reached out to us, and we were happy to help.
We got Mayonnaise out of the shelter and straight to small animal specialist Dr. Stubbs at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital for a check-up. Dr. Stubbs didn’t see anything unusual during the physical exam, but it did look like Mayonnaise was suffering from a urinary infection, so she started him on antibiotics.
Mayonnaise was transferred to his foster home and he did great there. He finished his medication and his health has improved 100%.
Here’s a note from Mayonnaise’s foster home:
“Mayonnaise has finished his medication for the urinary tract infection, is now in perfect health and is ready to be adopted.
He arrived a terrified, and likely abused little hamster. The first morning when I tried to pick him up for his medicine he screamed. It was heartbreaking!! I have never heard a hamster make such a disturbing noise. He was so scared to be picked up.
In the 2 weeks he was on his meds he slowly learned to trust me and feel safe in his new environment. Every day it became easier to pick him up. Now he feels safe being handled and even accepts head kisses. He has become very friendly and eagerly takes treats from my fingers. He is a very sweet little hamster. Mayonnaise is eating well and enjoying life.
It’s adopt a senior month and Mayonnaise is hoping some kind, patient person will adopt him and give him all the love he deserves.”
