Lily
Sadly, sweet Lily passed away very unexpectedly in her foster home. She was happy and hopping one minute, and gone the next. Our vets think it was likely sudden heart failure. Our hearts go out to her foster mom, and to Lily’s sister Luna, who will be missing her sibling, even though they were feuding at the time.
Rest in peace Lily. We’ll never forget your sweet face.
Luna, Lily and four other rabbits were abandoned in a box in a rural area of Stoney Creek. Thankfully, someone came across the box and the rabbits were brought to Hamilton Animal Services.
Luna and Lily are friendly bunnies, and they were very bonded to each other when they arrived.
We had Luna and Lily spayed, and they healed perfectly from their surgeries. Now they’re ready to find their forever home(s)!
Here’s a note from their foster mom:
“I have had the pleasure of fostering these two beautiful, bonded sisters. Both recently spayed, both in fabulous health, both so pretty and now both fully litter trained! Woo hoo!!!
However recently these two babes had a bit of a falling out. Actually, let’s be honest, they had a full out bunny scrap. I guess at some point in the night one disappointed the other, or perhaps one was trying to be the Queen of the castle.
This scrap has now resulted in the two of them being separated. I have kept them apart in separate pens to ensure both stay safe, and that no injuries occur.
I will continue to try re-bonding these two, however for the last week, no success. They both seem to be holding grudges and truly want nothing to do with each other 😢
That being said, both are still very friendly towards humans and my dog Fiona, they are still greedy when it comes to lunch. They still love being touched, and rubbed.
Miss Luna enjoys hugs while miss Lily likes remaining on the ground. Not much of a cuddle bug.
I suggest that, at this moment they are adopted separately or going to a home with a neutered male rabbit, for they will get a long better than two females.
Both are sweet girls and are ready for their forever home.”
Please adopt Luna and/or Lily!
Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for exercise. Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some photo examples and great websites outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
