Carol
Rest in peace Carol. Thank you Cathryn and Pet Valu staff for giving Carol so much love.
We rescued Carol and Simon from a shelter in Quebec. Big thanks to Freedom Drivers Volunteer Transport volunteers for getting the hamsters to us!
Carol and Simon were surrendered to the shelter because their owner didn’t have time for them. Dwarf hamsters aren’t known for being particularly friendly (though some are) and these two are pretty feisty (i.e. bitey). We’re hoping with some more attention than they were getting in their previous home, they’ll eventually get used to being handled.
Shortly after their arrival, Carol and Simon both received a clean bill of health from the vet (thank you Dr. Stubbs!). Simon was adopted, but Carol waited and waited for her forever home to come along.
Because of her advanced age and some recent health issues, it was decided to make her a permanent resident.
She’ll stay with the caring staff at Dundas Pet Valu until her quality of life becomes such that we will have to make the decision to end her suffering.
This was not the outcome we were hoping for, but for now, the staff at Dundas Pet Valu are spoiling Carol, and giving her all the love and treats that she wants.
