We rescued our first farm animal today! Meet Claudette! The Oakville Humane Society found her wandering in a residential area of Oakville and took her in. We were happy to rescue her from there and place her in a foster farm where she will have other chickens to be friends with and lots of open space to enjoy.
Claudette is rescue #5 in our “30 Rescues by Christmas” campaign. Yay for Claudette!
Ladybird’s long term plan is to purchase property just outside of Hamilton so we can build a proper sanctuary to house our animals. We are very much looking forward to being able to take in a larger number of cats, dogs and small animals …and to also be able to accommodate farm animals in need of rescue, such as horses, goats, cows and the like. We can’t wait for the day we can tell our supporters that they can come visit us at our own property! But for now, we’re so grateful for our volunteer foster homes. We couldn’t do this work without them.
