We need your help!
Currently, City of Hamilton Animal Services is dealing with a large influx of rabbits, and more are coming in as we write this.
All the rabbits in the photo are at HAS now. Any or all of the female rabbits could be pregnant, and some have been giving birth in their cages.
Normally, the rabbit “dumping” happens after Easter, when parents buy rabbits from pet stores/breeders as Easter gifts for their children, only to abandon or surrender them when they realize they’re not an easy “starter pet.”
It happens year after year.
But, here we are, more than a month away from Easter with all these rabbits who have nowhere to go.
We would love to rescue some (or all!) of these rabbits, but all of our existing rabbit foster homes are full.
We need your help to get some bunnies out of the shelter and to safety.

A large space is required, as our rabbits are housed in puppy pens, rather than in the average plastic bottom/wire top “rabbit” cages, which are far too small. Here are some examples of puppy pen living, and alternative housing for rabbits: bunnyapproved.com/indoor-rabbit-housing
You can also apply to foster for Rabbit Rescue Incorporated, another amazing organization who is trying to help these bunnies. rabbitrescue.ca
You’ll often hear the phrase “Adopt! Don’t shop!” This means all animals, not just dogs and cats.
Help us help the bunnies! Become a foster home today!
